Sometimes, you just gotta GTFO. Maybe your town has hit hard times, maybe you want to live in a place that is more fast pace, rural, better nightlife, good schools, lesser commute or maybe there just are very few jobs in your area of expertise. If you are a Marine Biologist living in North Platte, Nebraska or an Polar Bear Veterinarian in Boca Raton, Florida then I don’t imagine that your job prospects are looking too rosy.

The Ins and Outs of Employment Agencies

When I say the word “Temp” what images comes to mind? Short-timer, lone gun, hired hand, free agent, human for rent, and “but I barely even knew ya.” According to statista.com, in the United States there were approximately 16,000,000 temporary employees in 2019. That is out of an approximate labor force of 163.54 million, so we’ll call it 10%. That’s also excluding freelancers, which is another topic for another blog entry.

Don’t leave me hanging…..aw crap, ya left me hanging! Why didn’t they get back to me?

I’ll set the stage because this sort of scenario is endemic in our times. The dreaded over-promise followed by the under-delivery. You have completed what in your mind was a very positive and confidence boosting interview. You feel like you have it in the bag and it is Friday afternoon. The Hiring Manager (HM) has told you they will get back to you on Monday.

You spend the weekend very upbeat, maybe celebrate with friends. You got this!

Then sure enough Monday passes and you wake up invigorated and anxiously make sure your phone is charged at 100% all day just in case it doesn’t decide to magically drain itself and die when the call comes. Your job is calling, you know it!
